The Dhammayangyi Pahto (Pagoda) was built by King Narathu (1167-70), who was also known as Kalagya Min, the ‘king killed by Indians’, this is the most massive structure in Bagan. King Narathu murdered his father and built this temple to gain merit to counteract his evil deeds, he was assassinated before he could complete the temple.

The child guides at this temple were a lot of fun and very informative. One of them had recently pierced her own ear and it was infected. I had a little bottle hydrogen peroxide with me which we put on her ear and she was quite thrilled
